Autronic small boost solenoid

I have been having some issues with boost control. Initially intermittent. now it is not rising above base boost . I suspect the solenoid.

What is the coil resistance or the wattage of the small boost solenoid? Also, what is the current capability of PWM output 2 on an SM2? My solenoid is 5 ohm/2.4 amp which seems high. These look to be relabeled MAC parts and what I have found from them max out at 12.7w.

SM2 pwm output is one amp capable. Mac valve is 25.4 ohms.

I'm afraid a failing valve took out my boost control pin on the SM2. I did a visual inspection of the board and found no obvious burned out components. Has anyone attempted to repair one of these? I would love to save it if possible. It suits my needs very well so I would hate to start over again since it is a discontinued model.

Service for SM2 is still available from Autronic. I appreciate that you are likely located in the US and Autronic is located in Australia. Make a phone call, box it up and send it to Autronic and it will be repaired.

Also SM2 is still in production so it is not a discontinued model.

Those ecu’s are extremely rugged by design. If you look at the Autronic website under contact/ enquiries hit the link for international enquiries and tell Beninca what the problem is. They should be able to give you a test procedure to determine if the output is faulty.

I did. I spoke with Joseph one time and traded a few emails, in fact I just let him know it was fixed. The new valve arrived a couple days ago and I installed it yesterday. The old had some cracking in the coil due to heat damage. I'll probably do an autopsy on it to see what happened.

Boost is back. That output is overload protected he told me, which is good design. I appreciate your input.
