  • car died now trigger problems.

    Hello. was out driving the car yesterday and on the way back it suddenly died. i didnt log during that trip sadly. but i saw that i had sync error... Cables are fine. i even tried disconnecting the main harness and only keeping the triggers connected. both sensors i have tried switching places with and change the position of the Cables. im starting to loose hope of ever racing the car. what could be wrong or how do i fix it. please tell me Before i throw a Molotov cocktail in the car...

    also when i turn the Engine so that the trigger teeth passes the sensors 6 times it starts the fan for a couple of seconds.

    CRNK1.DAT

    CRNK2.DAT is the sensors in the same position as in crnk1 but with the Cables switched

    CRNK3.DAT the Cables are as crnk1 but with the sensors switched

    CRNK4.DAT are the Cables switched with the sensors as crnk3​

    The coolant and intake temperatures are also in error so there may be a wiring problem. The crnk1 log shows a Sync I/P missing error when the engine is cranking.

    What is the Cyl and Sync pattern and what type is the Sync sensor?

      The coolant and intake temp sensors are all disconnected. i removed all those wires to be able to see where it could be trouble. my trigger wires goes in a separate extra shielded harness.

      the pattern is Divider LoSpeed 25. reluctor sensors. OEM FD3s RX7 trigger system.

          how do i set that up? trying to figure that out... i have to go to the garage to do it but ill do it if you can help.

            Go to menu M0 - Cyl/Sync/HSI Scope, crank the engine for 5 - 10 seconds, then press the Esc or Q key. This will make the software draw the scope traces. To save the scope log go to menu Edit-Window and select Save Logged File (near the bottom of the list) and Enter. When the file list appears press the Ctrl key and select Create New File and Enter. Then key a new name for the scope and Enter. Accept the Dialog to create the new file. You then get a blank line to add a Comment. Press Enter even if you do not add a comment.

            The file will be stored in C:/Autronic/MAPS folder.

                    The car was running fine until it suddenly died in traffic. i messured the cables and there is no broken wires in them. i tried switching the cables between the sensors for the loggs if that would help you see where the signal have gone. has the autronic gone and said goodbye or what?

                      Can you connect the crank sensor to the Sync input and repeat the Scope log?

                      Or do you have a real oscilloscope? Can you check the signal from the Sync sensor?

                        Ian, Scope1 is the crank sensor on the crank input. Scope2 is the sync sensor on the crank input. Have a look at the time interval between pulses. If the wiring is OK, appears to indicate a faulty sync channel.
                        He gets his lap dogs to do his talking for him. Buzzard is a good example.

                          The difference between synch 1 and 2 is that i switched the cables from the cyl to sync and sync to cyl sensors. i do not have a real oscilloscope available.

                          would it be possible to change to a hall sensor just to be able to use the ecu if that is the case being a channel being faulty?

                            Ok, I understand now.
                            Can you unplug both Crank and Sync sensors and measure the voltages between each on the 4 wires in the loom and ground (in turn) when the Ignition switch is On. For Reluctor selection in the cal each wire (Cyl+, Cyl-, Sync+, Sync-) should be a bit above ground. If you select Hall for both then Cyl+ and Sync+ should go to the internal pullup voltage.

                              Do you just want me to measure sync+ to sync- with the autronic switched on. Or do you mean sync+ to ground?
