Hello
I am helping a guy trying to fire his 4 cyl engine with 2 teeth on the crank and 1 teeth at the cam. Both GT101 sensors. VW COP.
We have not connected the injectors, because I want to see that we have the correct ignition angle setup and the correct phase first.
When cranking, ecu shows a steady 200-230 rpm, but the timing light shows 850-900 rpm. I have setup ign with 4 op and MC. I also tested with 1 op and SC and got the same rpm readings. Would be nice if someone can take a look at the cal and see what we have setup wrong. I believe it is something simple, but I can not find it...
I had V1.06 in my car and there was more options in the trigger setup meny than V1.05, ie Motronic, Evo etc which are not in the v1.05.
Any suggestions?
Thanks:)

Hi people.

I have an anoying problem with my Sierra Cosworth running SMC ecu.

When I try to start the car, either hot or cold, it will crank then kick back. Almost like it wants to start running backwards. By watching the cam gears it does go backwars briefly. Then I will crank it again and it will fire after a couple of seconds of cranking.

I have changed the cranking timing from from 22deg at 100,200,400rpm to 0,0,2deg. This has made the kick back less agressive but it still does it!

My next move will be a starter rebuild.

Any thoughts????

Cheers

Brett

Can you connect a NO (normally open) PNP magnetic proximity sensor as a crank or cam sensor to a SM4 and configure it as a Hall sensor?

Power to the sensor is from the +12V SM4 power wire and the sensor outputs a +12V square wave when magnet passes.

Tried a 10k pull down resistor with no luck.

The Honeywell 1GT101 hall sensor is a NO, NPN right?

Only way to get the SM4 to recognize the signal is putting it as a reluctor but then the cyl/sync% is wandering to much.

I know the Honeywell 1GT101 is preferred but, been there and this is another design.

Thanks!
