View Full Version : Sm4 no signal on ignop3

Hi im tryning to start up a bmw m5 engine with sm4 and msd dwell controlled coils. Everything looks nice 250rpm/min when cranking and the cyl cynk is at 52% but the coils connected to ignop3 is not firing changed the coils but the same.

Setup cranc disc with 3 triggers one at the camsync Hal type both.

Nothing recorded in ecu history

Ignition setup
1. 3 o/p 6cyl-WS
2. -ve edge (DWELL)
3. 10
4. -40.0
5. 50.0 This is checked.

I/P Cylinder cync
1. cylinder pulse
2. 6
3. 50.0
4. fast
5. hal
6. rising
7. fast
8. hall
9. rising
10. yes

If anybody has something to comment please dont hesitate will try everything..

That is an indication that Sync is being lost and the ECU is inhibiting Ignition outputs until it can re-Sync again. Can you advise the engine position that the Sync pulse occurs at and also try changing the Cylinder I/P filter to Slow.

have you confirmed that the Cylinder 1 Ignition point is in about the correct position.

I tryed the slow function. The gap betwen the sensor and disc is 1.0mm i have installed smc and sm2 before an never had any problems starting.. Posting cal...

Can you try these cals to see if any fix it? If not, we still need to know the engine position when the Cam pulse occurs
