I recently had problems with my Autronic 500R CDI. Once my bike warmed up I was having dead ignition misses to the point where it would completely shut off. I borrowed a friends unit and the bike runs seamless now. My question was is there anyone who services the units in the United States. Now that the original Autronic site is down, I no longer had access to the list of United States dealers. I had been corresponding with Richard from Australia, but when I went to ship the item I was given problems being it was going to Australia. Below is the response I received from Richard, who has been nothing but great help. More than likely its my fault, because as he mentioned my unit was hard mounted to my subframe on my bike. Thanks in advance for any help. Keith

"Repair costs usually range from $75 to $150 AUD + freight, turnaround time is 4 to 10 days. Most failures are caused by vibration. The repair of this type of damage is generally simple. Has the unit been subjected to vibration? If so soft mounting is recommended to prevent a future failure.

I showed it to a couple of guys who do that type of work and they pointed out that all of the info was taken off of all the chips with what appears to be a small grinder so they aren't familiar what the values are to check resistance. I'm almost positive it was caused from vibration, I'm just not sure where to start looking. Also the diagram you sent me didn't have any values, just the board with what appears to be part #'s. Thanks again for your time. Keith

Most problems caused by vibration will just be cracked solder joints and more so on the larger components.
