Does the innovate motorsports LM-1 autronic cable actually work with an smc or is it a waste of money?

Yes it works fine

This is from innovative;Cable has an op-amp differential amplifier inside that uses the ECU ground as reference to eliminate any ground differences between the LM-1 and the ECU ground. This is basically the same thing as the Autronic widebands do also (special target adjusted ground differential).I do not know the accuracy of the LM-1 but I love the Autronic meter specially with the NTK sensor.

When you install it, you have to change in the lm1 so it gives out 0-5v 10.0- 20.01 A/f.
Then i bin told to change Af input circuit, SMD 0v- 1v and Af sensor to linear I/P A/F meter in the ecu.
Can this be right? Why 0-5V in the Lm1 and 0-1V in ecu

Check out Innovate´s Forum, there you will find some descriptions how the Autronic Cable "works".

Thanks for the answers guys. I had read what Innovate had to say but just wanted to hear what customers had to say.
Thanks again,
Tim

I'm in Canada, with shipping you would probably have to give it to me to make it worth it  Thanks for the offer anyway though. :)

You don't need the autronic cable. As far as I know this is just a resistive divider so that the resolution of the 0-5v analog output of the LM is fully utilised and divided down to 0-1 volts = 10-30AFR for the Autronic input. But the Autronic also accepts a 0-5v input, so you just use LM Programmer to change one of the analog outputs from your LM to be 0v=10.00afr and 2.5v=20.00afr. There is still enough resolution doing it this way to get a perfect signal for autotuning and logging. Just make sure you ground your LM at exactly the same place the Autronic sensor ground is connected so you don't need to worry about differential ground inputs.

The Autronic SM4 ecu O2 Input signal is 0-5 volts
The SMC-SM2 signal is only 0-1 volts.

I have a plug and play Subaru model based on the sm2 (does that mean it's a SMC?) and it accepts 0-5v as well as 0-1v, and a user defined range for the linear o2 input. The only thing it doesn't have compared to the SM4 is a span and offset adjustment.

yeah , the innovate cable is a voltage divider, i used to make the dividers, but now i just buy the cable from innovate

I also use an LM-1 with the autronic cable and it works fine on the SM4 and SMC units I've tuned with it.
