Hi,

I am using SMC v.1.99 in my Evo 6. Car suffers from misfire on cyl 3 when warm. I have checked coils, spark plugs, resistor pack, wires and injectors. I confirmed that the problem is injector driver of cyl 3 in ECU.

Injector drivers are located in ECU on separate vertical boards soldered to main boards. All power transistors of each driver are smd elements (D336 D350).

Any suggestions for repair ? Are spare driver circuits available ? Swap options ?

Thanks,
TK

I recommend sending it to Autronic for injector driver board swap if you are sure about the driver is faulty.
Do you use high current injectors and removed the stock resistor pack?

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the answer. I have replaced the original injectors which were 2.7 ohm for 850cc low Z. I have measured them and they are 4.1 ohm. Resistor pack still in place.

I have pretty strong skills in electronics so replacement of the driver boards is not the problem, but how to buy them ? My PnP has configurable driver (small vertical printed circuit boards)

Do You think deleting the resistor pack and switch / reconfigure ECU for low impedance injectors could help with damaged driver ?

I cant find the jumper description in documentation. There are two jumpers near driver units - currently both open (removed).

I do not remember the jumper setting, but doubt it would fix your problem.

I am sure I can get a driver board for you, but will not recomend it here on the forum since many think they are "experts" and blame Autronic when it will not work....
Can you pleas email me a pic of your main board and the driver board.

Hi,

Thank You for replies. The serial no is #4503.
Please find the picture of driver boards in attachment.

Any help is highly appreciated !

Hi,

Problem was solved (temporarily). I have taken out the modules (oh.. it was not an easy job to unsolder it), then I replaced the damaged module with another good one from the same unit. Luckily, there was one unused output (intercooler spray) so I soldered back the damaged module in that unused slot. I had to put back bad module as output drivers are in pairs (two drivers on one board).

It is temporary fix which allows me to use 100% functions of ECU, however I am still looking for replacement (1410-01A).

You will need to buy that part from Autronic, either via a dealer or direct.

I have some on a wrecked SM4 board, just need to unsolder one and I can put it in a letter.
