Anyone know what this error is? I get this when I'm decelerating/off throttle and it feels like a misfire. I think the Hex Code was 000000800.
Thanks.

What kind of trigger setup do you have? ECU type? Does it happens everytime decel? What are the cyl/pulse %?

SM4 1.07
Audi/VW 1.8t 60-2
I actually narrowed down the range where it occurs, it happens between 2500-3000rpm at light throttle/light load. The sync/pulse % numbers look normal at around 26-27. I dont see any patterns also.
Here is a short log file in both .dat and .csv:

Would need you cal file also!
Are you sure (checked with a scope) your -Ve signal look like this?

Heres the Cal file.
I got the file from my dealer so I never checked the crank signal.

At a first look the setting seem OK, please verify the +Ve and -Ve wires from crank sensor.

You could also try another trigger flank for the sync sensor, try other offset value and trim I/P lead so timing matches the PC again.

I am the dealer who sold this ecu, and made the wiring harness and the CAL.
I have set up many of these engines, about 30+ using SMC and mostly SM4 ecus.
This engine uses the crank trigger wheel with holes instead of teeth.
These trigger wheels have proven to be somewhat problematic in my experience (and other ecu tuners experience) compared to the older style which had raised teeth.
The cars I have done, do not run at all with the crank +ve and -ve wires flipped around.
Also none of the problems I have had were solved by manipulating the sync/cyl % to a higher number. I have these engines operating at 9000 rpm with the settings used here.
I have one other customer who has experienced this issue. I would appreciate any help in getting these resolved.

From my experiance you only know if you check with a scope close to Sm4 connector. Volvo do twist these wires in the harness (for teeth or holes/slots). My latest car did get random sync errors before I checked with a scope and found that this cars had twisted in harness, after correcting this it worked without errors.

I'm curious to know if this Extra Cylinder Pulse or Too Few Cylinder Pulses are just annoying issues or are actually issues that are bad for the motor?

Robert, which flank is better to trig on a Volvo on the camshaft? By twisted harness you mean pin 1 & 3 is shifted (ground and positive) right? In what way would these problems occur? Regards

One car I mounted a SM4 on did get sync errors every 4-6 start. When I did switch the wires (+Ve and -Ve) the problems where gone. They both run fine while driving. The car was a 60-2 and of course a inductive sensor.

Thanks, I´lll look into that and make sure the wires are correct.

In regards to switching the +VE and -VE wires...do you switch the wires before or after the reluctor interface? I'm a little unclear, thanks! :o

It is before reluctor interface after the interface signal is hall type.
