Currently rebuilding my 427 twin turbo windsor v8, untill now I have run a distributor with both pick up signals in the distributor, however it seems a crank sensor mounted on the front would give a more accurate signal, my only concern is the sync signal running from the distibutor may create at times a signal error, due to the fact it runs via the timing chain-cam-dist gear to dissy and oil pump. I have read others having issues with signals, Currently I have had no issues, apart from a broken conrod, this build I plan to run 30psi boost so accuracy becomes more important, thanks for you comments, Steve.

I have been machining the front cover to take a sensor and fitting a pin on the cam sprocket for sync. The distributor is then used only for sending out spark.

I have been thinking of that, the windsor runs the water pump over the front cover, thats why I havent tried that approach yet, do you have some pics? would prefer the dissy sync pick up if it was accurate enough? what are your feelings. Many thanks.

I have used both setups on a BBC, both work OK.

As in, you have run the sync in the Dissy and a crank pick on crank? if it works for you Im more than happy to run with it, its easier to modify it with the engine out now, thanks.
