I have been trying to start up my c20let fittet with sm4 and msd-dis4 ignition, with 4 coils.
But when i crank the engine, the revs go up to about 5000 rpms, and i have no spark. The crank trigger is the original 60-2 trigger wheel with original sensor, and the cam sensor is the original distributer.

Post you cal file!

What could cause the revs to raise at startup?
I actually have that issue right now but I think it is attributed to my throttle body not being fully bolted down.

Sensor wired wrong
Software setup fault
This is where I would start.

Most probable is that your trigger setup in the calibration file is set up wrong somehow.
Post up your calibration file so we can help.

I'll try to get it posted

Your cal file had Pulse per cycle, you should use Pre-Scalar when using 60-2.
You have to check the timing and adjust I/P lead and possible the offset to get timing ok. Now it is setup like a Volvo 4-cyl 60-2.

Okay, thank you very much, I'll try that tonight!

Back again...
I tried loading the cal file from you, but no luck.
I keep getting a fault called: extra cyl pulse/to many cyl pulses. when i crank the engine i get rev around 200rpms. And my sync% goes between 0 to 100%, i can see that my cyl sync sensor changes alot in msec. If i try and turn of cyl sync signal, the engine starts, but runs poorly!
Please help!

I am not familiar with this engine but can you advise what pulses there are for the Sync (Cam) input and approximately what position/s that the pulse/s occur. And also if you know the crank positions of the two missing teeth.

i havent got that info, but it runs with the original distributer, with a hall sensor and a blind with 1 hole. I have scoped the signal from the dist. and it seems okay.

Ok, here is the cal modified a bit more to try. I have assumed that the missing teeth are at 96 & 90 deg BTDC and that the Sync pulse occurs near TDC Cyl1. (Also that the engine is 500cc/cyl and you have 96lb/hr injectors as selected)
But before you try to actually start the engine do the following;
Disconnect the MSD, take out the spark plugs, unplug the injectors (**or set Base Fuel Multiplier to zero), load this cal, clear any existing errors, set the PC logger to record Cyl Sync time, Cyl Pulse 1 time, Sync/Cyl %.
Using the F8 key to start and stop the PC logger, crank the engine and check for any Cyl or Sync type errors. If you get any errors or the Sync/Cyl% is not consistent save the Log file and post it or link it here or email to me ian@ecuglobal.com.au
If you don't get any errors put the spark plugs back in only (don't connect the MSD) and crank the engine again. If you get any errors do as above. If you don't get any errors connect the coils and MSD and crank again and check the timing with a timing light (the Cranking timing in the cal is about 11-15 deg). If it correct on Cyl #1 check it on Cyl #4 also to confirm.
If everything is looking good reconnect the injectors and try it.
