Hi guys ive searched all the threads on here with some useful help, has anybody previously succesfully ran a s54 with vanos delete standard idle control valve and standard cam trigger wheels. as yet i haven't altered the cam triggers im hoping i can leave them standard.
im running a sm4, engine is fitted in a e30 m3 racecar, located in adelaide.
thanks in advance for any help

Cam you confirm the cam patterns? I have a set of scope traces from an engine I think might be an S54B32 but there isn't any ID on the file. Is it 8-1 on the intake and 6 on the exhaust?
Check the intake carefully as S50B32 is 6+1 so it has the same overall pulse count as 8-1 but is a different pattern. Or else do a scope trace with the PC software, that is easier.

Hi thanks for the reply ian, yes the intake has 7 teeth and the exhaust has 6. because im not using vanos my electrician has only connected the inlet cam sensor, is it going to benefit me to connect the exhaust also?
thanks

Which 7 tooth pattern is it? It can be 6 evenly spaced with an extra pulse inserted or 8 evenly spaced with one pulse missing. The trigger decoding is different in the ECU for the two patterns.
There is a setup for the 6+1 pattern. I am not sure if an 8-1 pattern has been done but we seem to have a scope trace of it.
