Could anyone tell me which wire on the programming cable is +ve and which one is -ve please? I need to connect it to a datalogger which reads the Autronic datastream.
Thanks!

Does anyone have the experience of connecting the SM4 to a third party dash display. like the Racepak? How is the connection made? Do I need to set anything in the Autronic software?
In the SM4 software, under "logger", there is a selection for PC data stream. Do I need to enable this? It looks like if this is enabled, the PC will send a datastream out via a COM port only. In other words, the PC must be connected?
I was thinking that the data stream can be obtained directly from the ECU through the programming jack?

On the 1.01-1.07 you do not have to do anything, just plug in the connector in the Sm4.
Have used Race pak and the DashDaq is very easy to use. Se my homepage regarding the DashDaq. Also used Aim dash.

Do you mean I do not need an adapter or something?
My dash/logger is from Pi Research. It has a + and a - wire for ECU data.
Do I just connect these wires with a suitable jack and then plug into SM4?
Would you know which wire is for which part of the stereo jack please?

Data stream has RX & TX (Receive & transmit)

Tip = TX
Ring = RX

Robert, I am looking at an old SM4 manual V1.6.
On P112 for PC and ECU logger diagrams, TX is connected to the tip (Pin 2 of the serial plug) and ring is to RX (Pin 3 of the serial plug). Could you verify please?
Do I understanding correctly that only TX and Ground need to be connected to the datalogger which is only receiving data?

Please have a look at this as well.

Only 2 wires are used - one to Pin 5 and one to Pin 2 of the serial plug.

I can confirm that TX is at the TIP, and that it should be connected to a 9 pole PC serial port on pin 2.
And that ground is to be connected to serial port pin 5.

To use the data stream, only ground and TX need be connected.

I take the liberty to change Roberts post also to reflect this.

Yes the pinout was for the Display so the SM4 TX is the displays RX, wich may confuse.
