Hey guys, I just picked up a used SM2 + CDI, and I'm curious about the different versions.

This is going into my 1997 Audi A4

There is a sticker on mine that says "SM2 1.37 VW/Audi 60-2 Hi-Speed"

I see talk about higher versions, what do these versions offer that 1.37 does not? Is it a must to upgrade, and what is involved in upgrading?

Unfortunately, I don't have the manual, the previous owner is trying to find it, does anyone have a copy of the manual readily available? Or at least a list of the pinouts so I can get started planning the wiring diagram?

Thanks,

Wroom

The SM2 chip version is pretty much determined by what application one wants to make. There are great differences on what the versions do.

Some help is available in the help menu of the software, and of course the manual shows what versions will do what. Like 60-2 trigger, closed loop and other functions.

Robert or Ian can give you a better answer on what version is best for your application. But maybe the 1.37 version is the best for you since it supports 60-2 trigger?

I have track of the different versions up to 1.95 then there where some more like 1.99 but have forget the changes.
What functions are you up for?
E-mail me regarding the manual.

I need to have the Motronic 60-2 wheel.

I found a copy of the manual in Swedish, but can't really read it. It did have a copy of the different versions up to 1.95

If I'm reading it right, only v1.37 and v1.49 have Motronic 60-2 capability? Those versions do not have Auto-tune, Anti-lag, or Flat-shift. Are there any newer versions that have motronic and these additional features?

Looks like I need 1.49 so I can get Launch Control at least.

Is it an easy upgrade?

There is a autotune chip from 1.49 called 1.99 but either 1.49 or 1.99 has launch. They have only dual revlimiter. Cant you remove teeth or fit another trigger to use the 1.93 chip?

Awesome, what version are you using?

if I want to upgrade versions, what do I need to do? Is it a simple download through software?

The cal. file is for version 1.99 but you can use it with minor changes. For the upgrade you need to have another chip ,when I sent my ECU to autronic for upgrade ,they put 1.99 chip in to ECU and sent me 1.37v chip with a box too.
