In relation to other brands, we've made signal modification circuit that allows Finnish engine management system called Hestec to work with Autronic R-500 CDI. Normally it drives Bosch 203 module and it doesn't have much options for Ign out modes.

The board layout also has 4 different amplification modes and 4 channels that allows Autronic SM4 to be used with BMW single or double Vanos systems or some other PWM systems that require more current than SM4 can output. It has been designed for 4A/ch at which level the components don't need passive radiators.

Not huge selling success, just in case anyone needs them.

So the board has H-bridge controllers to be used for double VANOS?

Regarding the vanos system does anyone has experience controlling vanos of S50B32 engine (M3 E36 europe version) using SM4? From memory the way motronic controls via 'plus' side of vanos solenoid instead of ground side. One camshaft controlled by 2 solenoids that work push pull.

Hening, I have not done it but if using a the H-bridge direct would work if they had enough current, So an extra driver is needed. I think Kai has sold the driver but do not know if it is used. I have the schematics if anyone would like to do their own.

I have done an S50B30 (Euro) with SM4. Both solenoids (for the single Vanos) were wired as constant power and switch to ground with PWM1 and PWM2 outputs configured as an H-bridge driver. It seemed to have a lot of hysteresis in the control but it turned out to be a leaking solenoid. With new solenoids it worked exactly as expected.

No, it's not H-bridge controller. It amplifies SM4 signal so that more current can be used. It can also change PWM on/off waveform upside down. 4 modes for this, from which only 2 are needed with Vanos systems.

I don't know how factory drives Vanos valves but this has been used at S54B32 and S50B32 Euro engines and (with suitable SM4 setup) they seem to work.

do you have a drawing for how to wire it up and a cal that works on this engines?i have 2 customers waiting to test this
