Have had the battery disconnected in the car for a few weeks as I was doing some work on the car,
Reconnected battery finally and proceeded to start the car,
first thing I noticed was that the pumps wernt cycling,
so connected the laptop to see what was going on,
No ECU found...]
Strange so I checked wiring and fuses and plug coupler etc,
still no joy then I noticed the error light,
Fast Continuous Flash, return to dealer for repair...

So I removed the ECU from the car and contemplated sending it back ,
Even thourh my dealer no longer exists.....
Thought I would plug it back in for one more try,
and everything was back to normal.......???
Should I be concerned?

I've heard reseating the chip on the board fixes this problem. Worth a try if it comes back. Good luck.

Please contact your supplier. I have been in contact with them.

Please don't try a DIY repair as it is too easy to do further damage which is worse than the original problem.

If sending the ECU back is impractical, then removing and replacing the chip has worked for me in the past. If you don't have the proper puller, use 2 small (2mm) parallel punches or other rods to push the chip out from the back (there are 2 small holes in the PCB that line up with the corners of the chip).

If you are unsure or not confident about doing this in any way, return to dealer.

Same problem here.

I took the box apart and took the chip out. On the chip connectors is a fine coating that I took off by dragging the chip across a clean white piece of papaer. The chip actually laid down some pretty black lines.

I then reseated the chip and have not had the problem since.

This is only a temporaly fix, problem will occure again. So for a permanent fix it should be done by the local Autronic dealer. It can fail again and you may be in a situation with the car that is not so good....

Autronic is sorry for the problems it has caused, it was a part that has changed from supplier without notice. They have now worked out a fix that will solve the problem permanently. It should be done at the local dealer to make sure it is done properly, and they have the other parts needed. This is not only cleaning the chip.

It is strongly advised not to fix this by customer themselves, it is easy to crack the socket or miss the other parts needed to fix it permanently.
