Hi, I am after a 2332 N/A map for a aircooled vw type 1. I just want to compare it to my map and see how the charge temp estimate looks. Thanks.

I am just building a typ 1 76 x 90,5 = 2000 cc Turbo engine to my son. I am planning a cylinder head sensor mounted in the head just under the valve cover clip. I am planning also a oil temp sensor in the sump and use them together.

I am not ready with this setup yet, for your app it differs alot where the airtemp sensor and the water (oiltemp sensor) are located.

Thanks for the reply MRM, I like your idea of using the 2 sensors together. My air temp sensor is in the number 1 cylinder velocity stack and the oil temp is tn the main oil gallery just as the oil is returned to the case from the oil cooler and filter.Any suggestions on what my charge temp table should look like?
Thanks.

I will use the one in the head (into valve rocker area) as primary engine temp, and use the one in the oil for corrections. The engines VE will be higher until engine oil gets hot, since it will cool the pistones making engine run little lean when cylinder head sensor shows normal temp during warmup.
The engine oil temp will then be used as switching oil cooler fan on and also reduce power when oil gets to hot. Will also put a speed sensor so the gear changes and speed will be ecu logged so I can monitor my children´s driving.....

Do you have the oil cooler and filter both on full flow from the pumpcover?

Is the cooler close or in the fron of the car?

Robert,
Can you use the two sensors the way you've descibed with an SMC or is this only going to work with the SM4?

Unfortunately not.......I think the two sensor arrangement will be just fine for the aircooled engine.
Kelly, are your car a street, strip or daily driver...

Unfortunately not
Just one more reason for me to step up to the SM4! :D

I think the two sensor arrangement will be just fine for the aircooled engine.

Porsche used this type of arrangement for years with their air-cooled engines, but I didn't realize it could be done with these systems.

your car a street, strip or daily driver...
Mine is strip only, but I have another car in the works (Meyers Manx buggy for the street) and I have a few people asking to have street cars done.

Did not know Porsche used it! Just waiting for some more parts from Pat at CB Perf before we can put the engine together.
